Thank you April for being such an inspiration and for all of the wonderful tools you've freely given to us. I love how authentic your personality is and the sincerity of your desire to help others. I've been searching for mentor/coach and I believe I've found her. Keep spreading that Black Girl Magic! Much love, many blessings♥
April, you are so beautiful and this is so great! One of the most powerful and poignant Ted Talks I've seen. It's amazing how your beauty just grew and grew until, by the end, it took over the screen. Beauty fed by your strength, your humor, your mastery; your story. Thank you. ...Thank you. Looking forward to your next
"What are you pretending not to know?" "If you knew you were going to die one year from today, what would you want to be remembered for?" This Ted Talk "Re-Write Your Story" by my dear fried April Yvette Thompson (Actor, Writer, Tony Award Winning Producer, ARTIST) is filled with sound-bytes of truth-stirrers like these. Yes, it is 20 minutes which is considered a lot in this impatient-we-want-it -now society, but, it is time well spent. So take a look, enjoy, be inspired, share, and let's re-write our story.
It does not matter your color, race, gender, or size and age., this is the most inspirational ,truthful, smack you in the face with a reality check seminar. I have always wanted to act, always have. since my first play in 1st grade. My time is now. I have been working hard doing the studies, research and classes required. But, Big Butt here, never thought of the emotional toll that this industry has. Haters, Two facers, non believers, skeptics and flat out bullies have reared their little heads from day 1 of my efforts. I am no longer focusing on what others think of me because of April. I know who I am. I am strong, I am good, I am my own biggest believer..... I will succeed because I KNOW I AM GOOD. stop trying to prove it to everyone else, prove it to yourself and prove all those others wrong.
Today's writer inspiration shout out is for April Yvette Thompson. If being a kick-ass actor and entrepreneur were not enough, April inspires me merely by the fact that she has found such empowerment through telling her own story. All of us have worlds within us; few of us ever find the key to unlocking those worlds and sharing them creatively with others. Don't believe me? Her first autobiographical play, Liberty City, was nominated for Drama Desk, Outer Critics, Lortel & AUDELCO awards. Check out her Ted Talk and get inspired yourself.
