After birth of a nation, I so needed to see stories of black men & women powerfully working together in Luke Cage where we both have voice and agency and winning...
Sadly, we find that so hard to reimagine in real life stories...we can only imagine that in comic strips... I work with powerful black men creatively, professionally and personally every day who don't need to silence me or demean me with violence in order to get things done and create magical storytelling... Why is it that when lots of money is involved, that doesn't happen...what drives that kind of ego and insecurity? Reminds me of the failures of the black power movement...where in order for black men to feel powerful, powerful sisters had to fuck them, feed them and stay quiet... We need to grow up and do our personal work on both sides and not run from it ... Not being married to a black woman doesnt absolve a black man from that work nor does it give black women a right to beat upon a brother...he still a keeper of black stories which is my only concern He was raised by a blackwoman and his stories about black people need to grow us as a people...not divide and demean... Otherwise what's the difference between working for a white oppressive man and an oppressive black man...
