Annoyed....Instead of black people complaining to white people about a lack of work, black folk should be having conversations with each other about creating more work for us. Then when white folks complain about black folks taking their work, I'd love to turn around and say we're making/producing/financing our own stories, u should too.... So very very tired of us not acknowledging that change happens not when we allow someone to give us a break, but rather in a capitalist country, change happens when he who knows how to create a product that generates mass appeal and lots of fucking money that that is the solution.... We spend way too much time complaining about realities we actually have the power to change... I also find it super annoying that the moment we chose to complain is the very moment that we're winning....it's as if we're apologizing for success as if it were some random fluke when in reality, success happens when you decide to do something you've never done. We've done complaining, we've done demanding that meretocracy rule in a capitalist country.... Haven't we gotten that that is so not how it works? When we're in the drivers seat, it's a waste on time to complain about lack. That's the moment we're supposed to be building on the formula that has created our success: And that formula is to make your own shit...find an audience for it and keep giving it to them on the regular....when u have a product they can't get anywhere else, they will keep coming back for more... Complaint and a sense of lack creates situations where we have to justify our success as novel...that's surrendering your power.... I tired of us not getting that....I'm tired of us needing our work, our stories needing outside validation... If I were a white person hearing the complaints, I would think: if you think your story is so important, then go fucking finance it, create institutions to build it and stop fucking whining as if you have no power This moment of success is your power...work it... U can't change the outside until you change the inside.... So I never dignify the haters or people I perceive as denying me something....I'm not the Jackass whisperer... My time is spent trying to not work for anyone I ever have to complain about not giving me something...my time is spent figuring out the really hard shit of how to build institutions, structures that will sustain the beliefs, stories and traditions that are important to me...that's my job...that's not Hollywood's job... Hollywood's job is to make fucking money....
