You could be missing a special opportunity to free yourself from things that no longer work...

if uv been depending on schooling to educate u and ur children, let us hope u sent them to the best schools available and also questioned what they were learning and assigned them books. The public library was my after school gig. PBS was the only TV at home followed by discussion. More than learning a bunch of facts, I think my parents reading themselves and teaching me how to think for myself and research what I didn’t know is where the bulk of my education came from.

if ur still sitting here lamenting why u don’t know american history or the origins of your people, that’s simply bec it’s not a priority for u.

the american educational system (not prep school, Ivy League or grad school) in ever taught me how to make a living in America. my parents teaching me how to think critically, ask questions and research answers, private coaches and then internships that had huge community organizing training components is where i learned how to analyze history, politics, religion and philosophy as well as concrete work skills like grant writing and building institutions.

in short, i learned what I most wanted to learn and school did not teach me those things. american education doesn’t teach anyone how to compete in the workforce. why would u think they’d teach you abt history? That’s not their job. their job is to maintain the class structure in this country.

that's why my prep school friends had tutors, Apple computers, and had finished algebra by the 8th grade and I had not. their parents were not only financially invested in their education, they oversaw it bec school does not teach u to master your fate. u and your family do that.

so whenever I hear,

"omg why didn’t they teach me that in school. "

I think, why would they? that's ur work. and if u don’t know or ur kids don’t know, that shapes the life u live in america's capitalist, class driven society. only those accessing knowledge, connections and nepotism know anything: and really all they are learning is to remain in charge. Nothing else.

so while folks are melting down over zoom learning for their kids, ur missing out on shaping ur child's destiny in a way that school never could have.

it starts with the parents becoming critical thinkers and learning new ways of framing the new game in america and then passing it onto our kids.

COVID has freed us up in so many ways that holding onto what was not getting u ahead in this country, has caused u to miss a rare opportunity to finally get power and freedom to chart ur own path.

u can teach irself or hire a coach to shape what your Life Schooling should actually be about...either way, it comes down to those who are relentness and those who are sitting still.
