I love this lady...she is wisdom...she helped me find the answers...She's my Dr. O...the doctor part is really important to me... There's something really great about a group of doctors willing to work in tandem with your GP and tackle the problem from all angles going back into you medical history and locating triggers as well as consistent talk therapy and someone who knows how to help a black woman navigate through the sometimes intimidating world of mental health...she dymystifies and works with a team of counsellors, psychicatrists and can look at the whole you.... She remembers behaviors and stories from 20 years ago...and grounds me in not just moving past depression, but living...and learning new coping mechanisms that have been handed down to me.. She is supportive, loving and has incredible boundaries....often with black women counselors, therapists, this projection thing happens cuz everyone is looking for a mother...but that's not what you need in a doctor...I work with a counselor who asked me to talk to her ike she was my mother and another to tell me that what I needed was to rely on my church home and my sorors to get me through...when i told her i didn't believe in church, she could no longer help me or stop judging me.... Dr. Owens taught me the power of boundaries and the present moment...that I am not what I was, but what I've chosen to become...she has been there every step of my transformation encouraging, strategizing...re-working strategies to get at a life lesson... She is in the business of my healthy growth and she treats it that way...she is gentle, progressive, open minded and willing to take you where you need to go, not just what's comfortable for you or her... I am ever-grateful for her...she helped me, change, become and transform into the me I wanted to become...and always putting the power in my hands... She is a badass.... I love her with all my heart...although i'm not allowed say that cuz she's my doctor.....howlin.... Now don't all yall call her at once..... she is going to give me that look when i tell her i posted about her on FB.....howlin http://www.silentagreements.com/OUR%20TEAM/michelelowens/ #BlackLadyTherapist Michele L.
